WHAT IS INTEGRATED PEST MANAGEMENT (IPM)?

Many pest control companies throw around the phrase “Integrated Pest Management”, but only the best actually practice IPM. At Horizon Pest Control, we follow stringent standards for IPM, to ensure our customers receive the highest level of service at the lowest level of risk to their home, community and environment.

IPM incorporates the use of routine inspections, monitoring devices and special products as well as structural, sanitation and cultural changes to prevent or eliminate pest infestations. When properly implemented and coordinated, IPM can reduce the use of chemical applications and achieve safe and effective results for you.

Horizon will develop and manage a customized IPM program designed specifically for your facility. Our goal is to eliminate your pest problems in a fast, effective and safe manner without compromising the integrity of your operations, school or daycare center.

COMPONENTS OF A GOOD IPM PROGRAM

  • Routine Inspection and Monitoring
    • We continually inspect your property to look decreased activity in existing areas, as well as look for new areas of activity. Monitoring tools act as eyes on your facility between our scheduled service inspections to uncover new rodent or insect activity.
  • Structural Considerations
    • Recommendations for building improvements are discussed and documented by service technicians and Horizon’s Quality Assurance Inspectors.
      • Keep up with building maintenance and general upkeep
      • Rodent proof entry points
      • Reduce exterior vegetation, including low-lying shrubs, plants and weeds
      • Maintain structural integrity
  • Sanitation
    • Maintain good sanitation and solid waste management programs both inside and outside.
  • Special Control Methods
    • Control in sensitive areas is maintained by sealing pest entry points, vacuuming, using mechanical traps, insect growth regulators, insect baits, sprays or dusts.
    • We recommend that areas requiring the use of sprays or dusts be unoccupied and have good ventilation.
